Joy Gregory

Joy Gregory is a Los Angeles-based playwright, former actor, sometime director and television writer and producer, currently writing for a new CBS drama, "Swingtown." As well as running with DogEar, Joy is a founding member of Chicago's Lookingglass Theatre Company Dear Charlotte, her play about Charlotte Bronte, was developed as an MFA thesis project at California Institute of the Arts where it was selected for the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival. Dear Charlotte has since been produced in Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles and Brisbane, Australia, with an upcoming production in Minneapolis. Her musical about real-life outsider girl group The Shaggs, called The Shaggs: Philosophy of the World (with composer and co-lyricist Gunnar Madsen) has been produced in Chicago and in Los Angeles where it was honored with an LA Weekly award and an LA Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Production. The Shaggs will soon have its premiere in New York. Joy used to be in a rock band called Tart in Chicago. Now she plays music mostly with her three year old daughter, Lucie.
